Jacksonport is a tiny White River community in northeastern Arkansas, accessible via Highway 69 from Newport. The historic steamboat town sits in Jackson County's agricultural bottomlands, where seasonal flooding enriches the soil. Visitors from Little Rock take I-40 east to Highway 67 north, connecting to Highway 69 for the final 12 miles through farmland. The area experiences hot, humid summers and mild winters typical of the Arkansas Delta region. Jacksonport State Park preserves the original 1800s steamboat landing where paddle wheelers once transported cotton and passengers to Memphis.
