Jackson is the county seat of rural Northampton County in northeastern North Carolina, positioned along US 158 between Norfolk and Raleigh. The town sits in the Roanoke River valley, surrounded by farmland and pine forests. Route 305 runs north-south through town, connecting to I-95 near Rocky Mount 25 miles south. The 1884 red brick courthouse with white trim has anchored the town square for nearly 140 years.
