Itasca is a small Hill County town about 60 miles south of Dallas-Fort Worth, reachable via Interstate 35E to Highway 77. The rolling north Texas terrain experiences hot summers and mild winters with occasional ice storms. Most visitors arrive via Highway 77, which connects north to I-35E and south toward Waco, while locals use the same route for short trips to nearby Hillsboro. The restored 1895 railroad depot downtown now houses the visitor center.
