Ismay is a tiny prairie community in southeastern Montana, accessible via State Highway 7 about 35 miles northeast of Baker. Most visitors arrive on longer routes from Billings (180 miles via I-94 and Glendive) or Miles City (via Baker). The rolling grassland experiences typical Great Plains weather with hot summers and harsh winters. Ismay briefly renamed itself "Joe, Montana" in 1993 to honor quarterback Joe Montana.
