Ironton is a lakeside community of about 600 people in central Minnesota's Crow Wing County, 10 miles northeast of Brainerd via Highway 210 and County Road 11. The 130-mile drive from Minneapolis takes two and a half hours through Little Falls on Highway 10, then west on 210. Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport is 15 miles southwest for air travelers. The town was named for iron ore deposits discovered in the 1880s, though mining quickly gave way to its current role as a quiet lake retreat.
