Industry is a tiny farming town of 569 people in western Illinois, about 15 miles west of Macomb via US Route 136. Most traffic comes from locals commuting to Western Illinois University or county services. The town sits on flat prairie land surrounded by corn and soybean fields, with a continental climate bringing hot summers and cold winters. Industry keeps its original 1850s grid street layout from when the railroad brought a gristmill and sawmill to the area.
