Independence is a small city in western Hennepin County, about 25 miles from Minneapolis via Highway 12. The area features rolling farmland along the Crow River with a mix of rural properties and newer suburban development. Most visitors arrive from I-494 to Highway 12 west, while County Roads 6 and 90 connect to neighboring communities. The historic 1857 Town Hall remains the heart of this 3,700-person community.
