Imperial, a farming town of 2,200 in southwestern Nebraska, sits along US Highway 6 about 45 miles south of Interstate 80. The main route from Denver takes US 6 east for 200 miles through Colorado's eastern plains. State Highway 61 connects north to the interstate and south to McCook. The town serves Chase County's agricultural region with grain elevators, equipment dealers, and ranch supply stores. The 1886 Chase County Courthouse dominates downtown with its distinctive red brick clock tower and Victorian-era design.
