Ignacio is a small town of 1,250 people about 20 miles southeast of Durango on US Highway 160. It's the headquarters of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and sits in high desert country at 6,400 feet. Most visitors pass through on US 160 between Durango and Pagosa Springs, or stop at the Sky Ute Casino Resort, one of Colorado's largest tribal gaming facilities.
