Hutto is a fast-growing suburb 25 miles northeast of Austin via US Highway 79, easily reached from I-35 or US 290. This former railroad town in the Texas Hill Country has become a popular bedroom community with good highway connections to Round Rock and Georgetown. The city proudly embraces its unusual mascot, the hippo, which appears on signs and murals throughout town.
