Hurricane sits in Utah's red rock desert about 20 minutes from Zion National Park. Take I-15 to Exit 16, then follow Route 9 west through town toward the park entrance. The city serves as a base for national park visitors, with dramatic red sandstone cliffs rising from the Virgin River valley. Hurricane got its name from the swirling wind patterns early settlers observed on nearby Hurricane Hill.
