Hunter Creek is a remote desert community of 45 people in central Arizona's Gila County, sitting at 4,200 feet among red rocks and juniper trees. Access requires winding county roads off State Route 87 from Phoenix or forest roads from Payson. The area offers solitude and Tonto National Forest access, with old mining roads still threading through hills dotted with abandoned copper mine shafts.
