Howells is a small farming town in eastern Nebraska, about 70 miles northwest of Omaha in the Platte River valley. Highway 15 runs right through town, connecting north to Norfolk and south toward Omaha via US-275 through Scribner. The area experiences typical Great Plains weather with hot summers and cold winters, surrounded by endless corn and soybean fields. The town's 1920s grain elevator still operates beside the railroad tracks and serves as a landmark visible for miles across the flat countryside.
