Howard is a small farming town in east-central South Dakota that serves as Miner County's seat. Located on Highway 14 about 45 miles northwest of Sioux Falls, it's easily reached via Interstate 29 and provides access to the surrounding agricultural region. The town's most notable landmark is its 1914 red brick courthouse with a distinctive clock tower.
