House is a tiny farming town of 90 people in eastern New Mexico's high plains, sitting at the crossroads of State Roads 18 and 206. Most visitors arrive via US 70 through Portales (40 miles southwest) or State Road 18 from Clovis (30 miles northeast). The surrounding Llano Estacado stretches endlessly with cotton and wheat fields under big skies. The town got its name from a rancher's house that served as a prairie landmark for early travelers.
