Hopedale is a farming community of 753 people in central Illinois, about 15 miles southeast of Peoria. Most visitors take I-155 to Exit 8, then head east on local roads. The town sits in classic Midwest corn and soybean country with the typical rural road grid. Hopedale runs its own municipal electric utility, established in 1895 and still serving residents today.
