Hoover is a planned suburb about 10 miles south of Birmingham via I-65, incorporated in 1967 and now Alabama's sixth-largest city. The main routes include I-65 north to Birmingham, US 31 through the city center, and I-459 for the Birmingham bypass toward Atlanta or Tuscaloosa. The city sits in the rolling Appalachian foothills with a humid subtropical climate. It's home to the massive Riverchase Galleria, one of the Southeast's largest malls.
