Homestead is a small borough along the Monongahela River, eight miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Take the Homestead High Level Bridge from the city or follow Route 837 along the river. The area was once the heart of America's steel industry, and you can still see the towering blast furnaces from the old Homestead Steel Works standing like industrial monuments along the waterfront.
