Homer, a small town of 2,654 in northern Louisiana's pine country, sits 45 miles east of Shreveport via I-20 and Highway 9. Most visitors drive up from Shreveport or down from Arkansas, while locals use Highway 9 south to Ruston for shopping. The town centers around its historic courthouse square, anchored by an 1860 Greek Revival courthouse that's one of Louisiana's oldest still in use.
