Holts Summit is a Missouri River town about 10 miles northeast of Jefferson City, reached via US Highway 54 or scenic Route 94 along the river. Most folks drive the short route to the state capital for work, while visitors often arrive via I-70 through Jefferson City from St. Louis or Kansas City. The city's water tower is painted like a giant golf ball, visible from the highway.
