Holton sits along US Highway 75 in northeast Kansas, about 20 miles north of Topeka. The Jackson County seat connects easily to the capital city via US 75 south, while Highway 16 runs east-west through town. Most visitors arrive from Topeka or use Holton as a stop en route to northern Kansas communities. The town's 1920s courthouse features a prominent clock tower that chimes hourly.
