Hobgood is a tiny Halifax County town of about 200 people in northeastern North Carolina, reached via US Highway 158 between Rocky Mount and Roanoke Rapids. The area features rolling farmland and pine forests typical of the coastal plain region. The town operates one of North Carolina's smallest post offices, which doubles as an informal community center.
