Hitterdal is a small farming town in western Minnesota's Clay County, about 25 miles southeast of Fargo-Moorhead. Take Highway 9 east from Moorhead, then south on County Road 11 to reach this Buffalo River valley community of 314 residents. The area's rich agricultural land and Norwegian heritage are embodied in the historic Buffalo River Lutheran Church from 1906.
