Hitchcock is a small Gulf Coast city about 35 miles southeast of Houston, reached via I-45 south to Highway 6, then FM 2004 east. Local commuters use this route daily to Houston, while long-distance visitors arrive on I-45 from across Texas. The town sits on flat coastal prairie with warm, humid weather year-round. One of the last working railroad depots on the old Galveston line still sees Union Pacific freight trains rolling through downtown.
