Hillman is a small county seat in northern Michigan's lake country, home to about 800 people. Take M-32 west from I-75 for the main route in, or use M-33 for north-south travel through the area. The town sits among rolling forests and lakes typical of the region. Its red brick courthouse from 1922 dominates the town square and serves as the main landmark.
