Hildebran is a small foothills town in Burke County, about 8 miles west of Hickory on Highway 70. I-40 runs just south, making it an easy stop between Charlotte and Asheville. The area transitions from rolling piedmont hills to mountain terrain along the Catawba River valley. The old Bernhardt Furniture factory still stands downtown, marking the town's furniture-making heritage.
