Highwood is a small lakefront city about 25 miles north of Chicago, reachable via US Route 41 or I-94 with exits at Route 22. The compact downtown features several authentic Italian restaurants that have been family-run since the early 1900s, when Italian immigrants first settled here. Chicago Executive Airport sits just a few miles southwest for private flights.
