Highland Haven is a small lakeside town of 448 people on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, about 50 miles northwest of Austin in the Texas Hill Country. Most visitors arrive via US-290 west from Austin, then take FM-12 and TX-71 to FM-1431. The winding Hill Country roads pass through oak-covered hills with scenic lake views. The town maintains a volunteer fire department that provides mutual aid throughout Burnet County.
