Hettinger is a small farming town in southwestern North Dakota, about 60 miles from Dickinson via US Highway 12. The town serves as Adams County's seat and sits at 2,700 feet elevation among wheat fields and prairie grassland. State Highway 8 connects south to Lemmon, South Dakota. The 1907 Adams County Courthouse features a distinctive red brick clock tower visible for miles across the flat landscape.
