Hetland is a farming settlement of 10 people in eastern South Dakota, reached via US Highway 14 from De Smet or Brookings. This tiny Kingsbury County community sits among rolling agricultural fields typical of the Great Plains. The original 1880s railroad depot still stands despite the tracks being long gone.
