Herreid is a small farming town in north-central South Dakota, accessible via State Highway 83 about 30 miles south of North Dakota. Most visitors drive up from Aberdeen (60 miles southeast) or down from the Minot area (90 miles north). The town sits in classic Great Plains country with continental weather and limited EV charging. Herreid hosts an annual Polka Days festival celebrating its German-Russian heritage.
