Hernando is Mississippi's gateway city, sitting 25 miles south of Memphis along Interstate 55. The county seat of DeSoto County connects easily to Memphis via I-55 or Highway 51, with State Route 304 heading east toward Olive Branch Airport. Most traffic flows between Memphis and Mississippi's interior, making it a natural stop for travelers. The 1896 courthouse clock tower downtown has been keeping time for over a century.
