Herington is a small railroad town in north-central Kansas where I-135 meets US-56, about 25 miles south of Salina. The historic downtown centers on Broadway Street with local cafes and shops. The town sits along the Cottonwood River in rolling farm country. The Herington Historical Museum occupies a restored 1930s Santa Fe Railway depot with an extensive collection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia.
