Hepler is a tiny Kansas town of 120 people, about 15 miles southwest of Fort Scott on Highway 7. Most visitors arrive via US Highway 69, then head west through Fort Scott. It's a quick drive to larger towns like Pittsburg or a longer haul to Kansas City. The town's preserved 1904 one-room schoolhouse offers a glimpse into the area's coal mining and farming heritage.
