Hennepin is a small Illinois River town about 100 miles southwest of Chicago, reached via I-80 west to I-39 south, then Route 18 west. The historic community of under 1,000 residents sits in scenic river valley farmland where Routes 18 and 26 intersect. Named after French explorer Father Louis Hennepin who navigated the Illinois River in 1680, it's one of the region's oldest European-named settlements.
