Hemphill is a small East Texas town near Toledo Bend Reservoir, popular with anglers and boaters. Highway 21 runs right through town, connecting to Carthage and Louisiana. Most visitors arrive via US 59, then take Highway 21 from either Milam or Carthage. The 1908 red brick courthouse with its working clock tower anchors the town square.
