Hemby Bridge is a small Union County community about 20 miles southeast of Charlotte, accessible via NC-218 and nearby US-74. Most residents commute to Charlotte or Monroe for work, with the drive to Charlotte taking 30-40 minutes. The area features typical Piedmont rolling hills with a mix of residential developments and farmland. The town got its name from an old creek bridge that predated today's modern road crossings.
