Hedley is a small Texas Panhandle town of about 300 people on US Highway 287, roughly 25 miles southeast of Amarillo. The highway serves as Main Street and connects to I-40 at Amarillo for long-distance travelers, while State Highway 203 heads south toward Memphis, Texas. The town sits in cotton farming country at 2,800 feet elevation, experiencing the region's characteristic hot summers and windy conditions. Its restored 1920s cotton gin now operates as a museum showcasing the area's agricultural history.
