Hector is a tiny Arkansas River Valley town in Pope County, about 15 miles northwest of Russellville via Highway 7. Most visitors arrive from Little Rock (80 miles via I-40 west to Russellville) or Fort Smith (via US 64 east). The rural community of 334 people sits among rolling hills between the Ozark and Ouachita ranges, experiencing hot, humid summers and mild winters. The post office building serves as both the town's main landmark and central gathering spot.
