Heartwell is a farming community of 97 people in south-central Nebraska's Kearney County. Highway 183 runs north-south through town, connecting to Minden and continuing toward Kansas. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 80 near Kearney, about 30 miles north. The town sits in the Republican River valley surrounded by corn and soybean fields. Its historic one-room schoolhouse still stands as a reminder of Nebraska's rural education heritage.
