Hazleton is a former coal mining city in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, accessible via Interstate 81 about 80 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The main exit is 145, connecting to Route 924 into downtown. Popular routes include drives to Scranton (25 miles north) and Allentown via Route 309. The city sits at 1,600 feet elevation with a small municipal airport nearby. Downtown Broad Street still features ornate building facades from the early 1900s coal boom era.
