Hazlehurst is the seat of Jeff Davis County in south-central Georgia's pine country, about 60 miles northwest of Waycross. US Highway 341 runs right through downtown, connecting north to Macon and southeast to I-75. State routes 27 and 135 provide east-west and southern access to surrounding farm communities. The city operates Georgia's only municipal airport where the paved runway doubles as a public road.
