Hazard is a mountain town in southeastern Kentucky where US-15 and US-80 meet, serving coal-mining communities in the Appalachian foothills. Most visitors drive US-15 from Lexington (120 miles north) or take the Mountain Parkway to US-15 near Campton. The September Black Gold Festival celebrates the area's coal heritage with music and crafts on Main Street.
