Highway 8 runs east-west through town, connecting to Ladysmith and continuing toward Minnesota, while Highway 27 provides north-south access. Most visitors arrive via I-94 and Highway 27 through Chippewa Falls, or Highway 53 near Rice Lake. The city's 1950s water tower still displays the original "Hawkins" lettering in classic mid-century style.
