Havelock is a military town in eastern North Carolina, located along US Highway 70 about 100 miles from Raleigh and 20 miles from New Bern. The city sits near Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station, which drives much of the local economy and daily traffic patterns. US-70 provides the main access route, continuing east to Morehead City and the Crystal Coast beaches. The Marine air station next door is one of the largest in the world and has defined the community since World War II.
