Hatch sits along I-25 about 40 miles northwest of Las Cruces in New Mexico's fertile Rio Grande valley. Most visitors arrive via the interstate, with Las Cruces a 45-minute drive south and Albuquerque about 3.5 hours north. The town is famous as the "Chile Capital of the World," producing 80 percent of New Mexico's chile peppers and hosting a massive harvest festival every Labor Day weekend.
