Harvard is a small farming town of about 1,000 people in south-central Nebraska, sitting where US Highway 6 meets Nebraska Highway 14. Most visitors come from I-80 via Exit 312 at Clay Center, then drive 8 miles south. The town serves as a crossroads between Hastings to the east and the farming communities stretching toward Kansas. Harvard's 1918 Carnegie Library, with its distinctive red brick and classical columns, remains one of Nebraska's few Carnegie libraries still operating in its original role.
