Hartman is a small Arkansas River Valley town of about 680 people, located 15 miles southeast of Russellville on Highway 7. The main routes are Highway 7 north-south and Highway 164 east-west, with most long-distance travel connecting through Russellville to reach Interstate 40. The town sits along the historic Butterfield Overland Mail route, the first transcontinental postal service to California.
