Hartington is a farming town of 1,600 people in northeastern Nebraska, about 90 miles northwest of Omaha. US Highway 84 runs right through town, connecting east to the Iowa border and west toward Randolph. Most visitors drive in from Norfolk (45 miles southwest) or Sioux City, Iowa (35 miles east via Highway 12). The 1902 Cedar County Courthouse with its prominent clock tower anchors the town square.
