Harristown is a farming community of 1,550 people in central Illinois, about 15 miles southeast of Decatur via Route 121. Long-distance travelers use I-72 to reach Decatur, then head south on 121 through corn and soybean country. The town's massive grain elevator complex towers over the small downtown and can be spotted from miles away across the flat prairie.
